Marriage Covenant with Conditions or A Free Pass?

The message was and has always been a proposal of marriage and not a get out of Jail Card.  A Hebrew marriage proposal would have various expectations spelled out for the bride the greatest being faithfulness (not going after others).  In turn  the husband promised to privide all her support the necesary seed to produce heirs. Modern day Christians like to think of their relationship as a one way covenant with all the terms and conditions being fulfilled by God with very little spelled out for the believer.  Such is the "Get out of Jail Card".  They have been taught that everyone is born with a card that reads "Do not pass go do not collect $200.00, go straight to jail.

This popular notion is the Roman Catholic Doctrine of Original Sin.  Nothing could be further from the Truth.  There is no coersion from God only the promise to deliver what was promised.  To those who love him and obey him there is eternal life forever and for those who are indifferent there is reciprocated indifference.  They simply get what they deserve and have bargained for.  They are uniterested in God's righteousness so they opt out.  In God's plan there is no "Go to Jail" card that has to be exchanged.  Likewise there is not "get out of jail card" to cancel the terms of the first card. In the Christian Scheme God is big bad ogre that teases the children with either a carrot or stick and someone has to pay before his anger is diminished. In the parable of the sower and the seed it is asked who scorched the earth and the answer is that "an enemey has done this".  And so the lake of fire is a place of refuse for Lucifer and his angels not mankind.
